Determination of Boric Acid Levels in Food Samples Using the UV-Vis Spectrophotometry Method

Food is a basic need for every human being to grow and sustain life. In food, there what called BTP or Additives. According the Regulation of Minister Health Republic Indonesia No. 033 2012 [1], Regarding food additives, boric acid borax prohibited from used in products. However, many people still use as producing food. This study aimed identify determine levels samples. The research method was qualitative analysis with addition liquid curcucumin quantitative using UV-Vis spectrophotometry at maximum wavelength 540 nm. results identification determination showed that sample A had color change purplish-red orange, indicating positive acid. average level equals 986.947 ppm. %RSD value obtained 1.583%, this test has good precision.
